The Mummy is an upcoming American film directed by Alex Kurtzman and written by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie. It is a reboot of The Mummy franchise^[1]and is intended to be the first installment in the Universal Monstersshared universe.^[2][3]The film stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. The film is scheduled to be released on June 9, 2017 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.^[4]

A Múmia (ou no original, The Mummy) é um filme americano de ação, aventura, fantasia e terror de 2017, dirigido por Alex Kurtzman e escrito por Jon Spaihts. O filme será um reboot, reinício, da franquia de filmes A Múmia, e o primeiro filme do Universo Cinematográfico de Monstros da Universal. O filme confirmou elenco  comTom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Kim Adis e Russell Crowe.^[2]

Premise

Two thousand years ago, a young princess named Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) was chosen to be the new ruler of Egypt, but her father did not wish to pass on the throne to his daughter until he had a son. As a result, she killed her father and attempted to claim the throne for herself, but her plan was thwarted and she was buried alive beneath the sands of Egypt, never to be seen again. After her tomb is rediscovered by the American army and opened in modern times, she is once again awakened, bringing with her a malevolent grudge that has grown over millennia and terrors that will defy all humanity.

Production

Universal Studios first announced plans for a modern day reboot of The Mummy franchise in 2012.^[16][17] The project went through multiple directors with first Len Wiseman leaving the project in 2013,^[18] and then a second director, Andrés Muschietti, leaving in 2014.^[19][10]

Tom Cruise began talks about playing the lead in November 2015,^[7]with Sofia Boutella beginning talks that December.^[8] Kurtzman cast Boutella after seeing and being impressed by her largely mute performance in Kingsman: The Secret Service. Kurtzman also noted that “if you look at her eyes, and this is what I got from watching Kingsman, there’s a whole performance going on here. And in not saying anything but conveying that much to me, I thought oh my god, no matter how much prosthetics we put on her, no matter how much CG we put on her face, if I see this, she’s going to convey something very emotional to me.”^[20] Other casting news was announced between March and May with Russell Crowe joining during the latter month.^{[9][15][12][13][21][22]}

Desenvolvimento

Após o bom resultado de bilheteria de Dracula Untold, a Universal Pictures revelou que estava planejando criar um Universo Cinematográfico de filmes dos clássicos monstros, e entre os filmes estava a refilmagem de A Múmia, que seria dirigido por Andres Muschietti e o roteiro ainda iria ser escolhido, um roteiro seria escrito por Billy Ray, outro seria escrito por Jon Spaihts, o melhor seria o roteiro do filme.^[3]

Em novembro de 2013, a Universal Pictures anunciou a data de estréia do reboot de A Múmia nos Estados Unidos que estava programada para 22 de abril de 2016.^[4]

Em maio de 2014, o diretor Andres Muschietti abandonou a direção do filme da Múmia por diferenças criativas, que pela visão de Andres Muschietti gostaria de uma abordagem mais sombria, mas a Universal Pictures queria um filme mais leve e livre para a família, já com o roteiro quase finalizado por Jon Spaihts, com Sean Daniels, Alex Kurtzman e Roberto Orci na produção, o filme estava previsto para estrear no dia 22 de abril de 2016.^[5]

Após a saída de Andres Muschietti da direção do filme A Múmia, a Universal Pictures colocou na direção Alex Kurtzman que havia sido contratado também para a franquia de filmes de monstros da Universal, que planejava fazer, além dos filmes da múmia, filmes dos personagens Van Helsing, Lobisomem e Homem Invisível, entre outros.^[6]

Em agosto de 2014, o filme da Múmia foi adiado para não concorrer na bilheteria com outro filme da Universal Pictures, a estréia ficou marcada para 24 de junho de 2016.^[7]

Em dezembro de 2015, foi revelado que a atriz Sofia Boutella estava em negociações para entrar no elenco do filme como a Múmia, o filme estava marcado para estrear em 9 de junho de 2017.^[8]

Em janeiro de 2015, a Universal Pictures revelou que o ator Tom Cruise iria protagonizar o filme da Múmia.^[9]

Filming

Principal photography on the film began on April 3, 2016, in Oxford, United Kingdom.^[23][24] It was also filmed in Surrey.^[25] Filming on the movie wrapped on July 17, 2016, in London.^[26] Production then moved to Namibia for two weeks with principal photography on the film being completed on August 13, 2016.^[27]

Filmagens

As filmagens começaram em 3 de Abril de 2016 em Oxford, Reino Unido.^[10] É também foi filmado em Surrey.^[11] Em 17 de julho de 2016 as filmagens foram feitas em Londres, Inglaterra.^[12] Em seguida as filmagens do filme se moveram para Namibia onde foram concluídas em 13 de agosto de 2016.^[13]

Release

Initially scheduled for a 2016 release,^[28][29] the film instead will be released on June 9, 2017 in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D.^[4][6]

On December 20, 2016, IMAX released a trailer with the wrong audio track attached, which unintentionally prompted the creation of memes and video montages featuring the mistakenly included audio track, which was missing most of the sound effects and instead featured Tom Cruise’s grunts and screams.^[30] IMAX reacted by taking down the trailer and issuing DMCA takedown notices in an attempt to stop it from spreading.^[31]

Lançamento:

Inicialmente programado para  lançamento em  2016, ^{[28] [29]} o filme em vez disso será lançado em 9 de junho de 2017 em 3D, 2D e IMAX 3D. ^{[4] [6]}

Em 20 de dezembro de 2016, a IMAX lançou um trailer com a trilha de áudio errada anexada, que involuntariamente levou a criação de memes e montagens de vídeo com a faixa de áudio incluída erroneamente, e que estava faltando a maioria dos efeitos sonoros e, em vez disso, haviam grunhidos e gritos de  Tom Cruise . ^[30] IMAX reagiu retirando o trailer e emitindo avisos de remoção de DMCA em uma tentativa de  impedir que se espalhasse. ^[31]
